The photographic series The Secret Garden by Sonja Maria Schobinger conjures up a mystical visual atmosphere. On the one hand, the starting point for Schobinger’s imagery, are —sometimes personal—childhood experiences. On the other hand stands the aaempt to make intangible subject maaers visible to the viewer. On a broader spectrum, the photographs can be seen as a sort of self-portrait of the artist. Without a doubt, Schobinger’s works belong in the tradition of pictorialist photography, for story-telling, inner and outer dialogue, nature and the subjective world experience of an individual, play an essential role.
