Leonardo Finotti is a Brazilian architecture photographer who has been able to showcase his works in various prestigious exhibition spaces and museums. A seven year long sojourn in Portugal was significant to the development of Finotti’s visual imagery in the beginning of his artistic career. During his stay, Finotti was able to perfectly capture the simplicity and authenticity of the local architecture with his camera. In short, Finotti’s architectural background, his unique imagery and the location-specific design culminate in the photographs. After numerous exhibitions—for example 100 photos / 100 works / 100 years: Oscar Niemeyer by Leonardo Finotti` that concerned itself with the Modernismo movement—Finotti turned his interest towards his own geographical roots. Subsequently, he began to visually analyze Brazil’s architecture with regard to modernistic traces. The exhibition presented by Galerie 94 focuses on those of Finotti’s works that concern themselves with the Modernismo movement of the 1930s up until the 1980s.
