Julia Christe’s photographic works show the artist’s extensive examination with the subject of animals. This examination is deeply rooted in the artist’s own biography, her upbringing and her current lifestyle. The works included in the exhibition intend to create a pictorial reality which challenges us as viewers. In the course of this, light plays an essential role and is used by the artist in its natural as well as its artificial form. On the one hand, the series shows beautifully simple animal portraits, and on the other hand, mythical landscapes inhabited by animals.
