The Swiss Alps
Daniel Bühler, who has been meticulously cultivating his oeuvre for years, works in a technically and pictorially unique way. He visualizes worlds that we have perhaps already seen, but never perceived in this fullness, multifaceted unique. This is on the one hand the merit of his perfect sense for the "imperfect" eye-gaze. Off the beaten track, he searches for the perfect light in the mountains, carrying 20 kilograms of photographic equipment on his back, which is let through by drifting clouds and fog fields and gives the barren mountain world its contours in the first place. Daniel Bühler likes weather changes and atmospheric caprices. On the other hand, the magic of the pictures is due to his outstanding technique: He takes several individual images of a sequence, which he then meticulously assembles in the studio. In the process, he falls back on his color sketches, which he notes down in the viewing area. In this way, truth and staging come together in an undreamt-of wealth of detail. It's hard to believe how many shades of alpine snow can shine. The large-format mountain worlds, framed in solid oak, show a richly associative kind of pictorial memory.
